Home: Welcome

Project Description

The main goal of this project is to examine the causes of pump failure such as bearing failure, fatigue, improper installation and cavitation. We will create and analyze a physical and virtual  pump-reservoir system. For the virtual model, we will use CFD software to run simulations of various operating conditions. To analyze the physical pump, we will need to properly select and place sensors to get relevant data

Home: About Us

Goals and Challenges

  • Learn about industry practices related to pump fault monitoring, plot and analyze pump performance curves, and compare experimental results to CFD simulations and published pump data.

  • Be able to develop a CFD model of the pump flow to obtain data.

  • Use different operating conditions to bring about and examine failures within the system

  • Lastly, collect data and integrate it into the virtual model to predict failure and troubleshoot the source of the fault.

Willian Tenempaguay

In Charge of the Design of the Apparatus

Willian Tenempaguay is a senior at The College of New Jersey studying Mechanical Engineering. He is interested in the designing and manufacturing aspect of the field  as he is currently interning at Humanscale Inc. as a product engineer. On campus he is the programming chair of Lambda Theta Phi, Latin Fraternity Incorporated and member and founder of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineer chapter at The College of New Jersey.
